Atlantis Revisited
My prayers go out for all those affected by Hurricane Katrina.
Having said that…
Fox News was reporting – before Katrina made landfall – from New Orleans. One man was interviewed and asked if he’d be leaving. His response was something like “Why the F* would I want to leave?”
In all fairness, the reporter a) shouldn’t have asked that question on live TV, and b) shouldn’t have asked a redneck when he was drinking in a bar. Duh.
But that attitude, and the attitude of others that basically said “We’ve heard this before. [The weather forecasters] cry ‘wolf,’ and we go running. Nothing happens, and we lose money because we closed our businesses. Not this time.”
Then the forecasters came on Fox News and said “This isn’t like last time. This is Katrina. Folks need to evacuate.”
Most did. The rest stayed.
Now they’re asking for help.
I find the whole thing a little annoying. It’s not as though these folks weren’t told to leave.
Now I’m just waiting for the liberal left [both Democrats and the media] to blame the whole thing on Pres. Bush..
