Cartoon Knocks ‘em Dead
I’m continually amazed at some of the extremism in this world. I always disagree with it. I began disagreeing with it during the Clinton administration, when al-Qaeda would bomb an embassy in Africa, or the USS Cole, and our response would be “oops, my bad.” But I digress…
Now there is this cartoon – caricature really – of Mohammad out there that has Muslim extremists not only upset, but mad to the point of wanting to kill people. I mean, give me a break.
First off, let’s consider Mohammad. I know nothing about religion, and am not pretending to know anything now. But I’m sorry: even Jesus had a sense of humor. In fact, humor is a trait that can no doubt be traced back hundreds, if not thousands, of years. So, I’ll assUme that Mohammad had a sense of humor.
But let’s move past that. These cartoons are living in the world of satire. That is to say, they have a religious or political statement to make.
In particular, there is one cartoon depicting the prophet wearing a turban, shaped as a bomb with a burning fuse. Ok. Not the nicest of images, but a far cry from something that deserves death. In fact, it pales in comparison to what some of the Arab world have published in regards to anti-Semitic cartoons.
See for yourself. Here’s a page of hateful Arab cartoons. Compare that to the page of Mohammad caricatures that has the extremists up in arms (literally). Which one do you think is more hateful and mean?
But above and beyond all of that… does a satirical cartoon deserve retribution on a scale that involves murder? Ultimately, a satirical cartoonist is usually only repeating – or saying – that which few others would say aloud. Oftentimes, there is a smidgen of truth involved. Even in the anti-Semitic cartoons, the truth there is the hypocrisy of Arabs and/or Muslims. (Although I suspect that wasn’t what the original cartoonist intended.)
The extremists have been heard chanting “Long live Islam! We are Muslims! We don’t let anyone insult our prophet!”
Really? Well, I put it to you – the Islam Extremists that give your religion a bad name – that by murdering innocents, you insult Mohammad.
In the final analysis, what we have here is much ado about nothing. And even “nothing” sets off the extremists.
Talk about a warped sense of humor.

Someone needs to give these boneheads a geography lesson.
This from CNN’s Wednesday update:
——-
Similar clashes elsewhere in Afghanistan on Monday and Tuesday left seven people dead.
Protesters held several smaller anti-cartoon demonstrations across the country on Wednesday, including in the capital Kabul, where hundreds of university students chanted “Death to the Danish! Death to Americans!”
——-
Now what in the blue blazes did America do? Did they create the cartoons? No, it was a free Danish newspaper. So I guess they see Americans as Western Danish? This is why I can’t ever support people who throw religion beliefs around, then use it to destroy everything. These “people” are not humans, they’re animals, and should be treated as such.
What a lot of people don’t seem to understand is that there is a group out there that does NOT like Americans. They don’t need an excuse to hate Americans, but this cartoon business is an excellent excuse for the extremists to rally their insane troops.
It’s not the Muslims, but the extremists in their groups that are out there throwing fire on this cartoon issue. Otherwise the whole thing would have lasted a couple of days, and been over with.
America is representative of everything the extremists hate: freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and generally any and all freedoms. In their world, you should think how they think, obey and place faith in their religion, and kill those that don’t believe as you do (infidels).
Simply by existing, America is a thorn in their side. Simply by living in America, all people – men, women and children – are infidels and should be killed. (Hence their celebration of the muders on 9/11.)
I continually try not to lump all Dems into the same bucket, because some of them DO get it.. but most of them just think that if we apologize (?!?!) for everything we do, and everywhere we go, and make nicey-nice with the bad guys, that everything will return to a pre-9/11 era.
It’s a dream world, and one that I think would be very dangerous, if the Dems get back into enough power to attempt to make it happen.
