CNN Religious Hypocrisy

You just gotta love the hypocrisy of CNN.

In their story “Two dead in Pakistan anti-cartoon rioting,” they end the article with a disclaimer that “CNN is not showing the negative caricatures of the likeness of the Prophet Mohammed because the network believes its role is to cover the events surrounding the publication of the cartoons while not unnecessarily adding fuel to the controversy itself.

Get over yourself CNN. If you really and truly believe that all this rioting business is about some cartoons, then you have lost focus somewhere.

These extremists couldn’t care less about the cartoons. (If they cared all that much, there would have been much yelling and gnashing of teeth when they were originally published in October 2005!) All they care about is the fact that this is a potential trigger. A mechanism to stir the nut jobs out there to do violence, destroy stuff, and kill people.

All the while, they claim it’s about the cartoons, and the blasphemy therein. Get a clue, CNN. Do a little research. Take a little stand. Make a statement.

Whatever you do, CNN, don’t sit there and give me any higher-than-thou attitude. You don’t want to offend people of the extreme religion of Islam, so you don’t post the cartoons? What makes you take that attitude towards Islam, but when it comes to Christianity, all bets are off, and you’ll repost whatever you feel like, because, y’know, it’s just Christians.

What about your article about “Kanye West as Jesus Christ?” You didn’t create that photo, but you found no conflict of interest posting it. Hey, it’s just some wacko wearing a thorny crown, making himself out to be the Savior. What do you care? It’s news. Post it.

You shouldn’t be able to have it both ways. You want to report the news, then report it, photos or no photos. But don’t sit there and give me that poo that you don’t want to offend the extremists that might go and break things, so you won’t post the pictures, and then turn around and follow a different line of logic for a different religion.

Let’s say what it really is, CNN: You’re scared. You don’t care about offending anyone; You just don’t want any extremists coming over to your building and killing people, destroying property, and whatever else. But Christians are ok to offend, because you can bet they won’t react with violence and destruction.

You’re scared and you’re bowing to the people that hate the United States. Why don’t you start acting like Americans, and have a little more pride.

Nope. Can’t have that. Wouldn’t want CNN to appear biased, would we?
