Patrick Kennedy, son of Ted “Where’s My Drink?” Kennedy, drove his Ford Mustang into a cement barrier at the Capitol building, and then told officers, under slurred speech, that we was there for a vote. Too bad the Capitol took it’s last vote for the day 6 hours previously.

I was going to make a brief post about this mess last night. But. I thought I’d wait until the next morning. Sheesh. What a difference just a few hours makes.

Officers on the scene were told by an “officer higher than a patrolman” to leave. The replacement officers took Kennedy home. No sobriety test was given.

Say it ain’t so! A drunk driving Kennedy! Why, who would have thought such a thing! And then a coverup by the police?

Well, the story has changed a couple of times from Pat Kennedy, but the most recent version is that he is now addicted to medications, and that he’ll be checking himself into drug rehab.

Good on him. Go get help. While he’s getting it, he’ll be grumbling about the special treatment he received from the police. Or, maybe he won’t. Either way, because of that special consideration, now this is a much bigger story than it was before.

Now if we can just get Teddy Kennedy to check in with his son Pat, maybe we can stop the fish from drinking too.
