A Crime Of Free Speech

Thursday, April 26th, 2007

The monster that killed people at Virginia Tech had several other issues wrong with him besides his insane writings. But now it seems to be enough to get you arrested:

CHICAGO — Told to express emotion for a creative-writing class, high-school senior Allen Lee penned an essay so disturbing to his teacher, school administrators and police that he was charged with disorderly conduct, officials said Wednesday.

Lee, 18, a straight-A student at Cary-Grove High School in Cary, Ill., was arrested Tuesday near his home and charged with the misdemeanor for an essay that police described as violently disturbing but not directed toward any specific person or location.

If you’re not bothered by this turn of events, you should be.

Hey! Al Sharpton! Jesse Jackson! I see a civil-rights violation here! You two going to do something, or does it not fit your political agendas?

What Are You Crowing About

Tuesday, April 24th, 2007

So the other day, global-warming genious Sheryl Crow said:

I propose a limitation be put on how many sqares[sic] of toilet paper can be used in any one sitting.

For what it’s worth, Sheryl is now saying:

And by the way guys, the toilet paper thing… it was a JOKE!!

And yet it’s spreading as fact. Go figure.

Crossing Reality

Thursday, April 19th, 2007

On the April 18 episode of “Crossing Jordan” that aired last night, we see an instance where Homeland Security has arrested a major character (”Bug”) on the belief that he is actually someone else.

The bottom line for the episode is that Homeland Security is inept, stupid, arrogant, and never lets the facts get in the way of a good arrest. Then our character is harrased by Homeland Security agents, who threaten to throw him in Club Gitmo. Finally, because Bug won’t tell them what they want [or what they want to hear], they bring in something to the room, and the agent says “this is your last chance.”

We never see the torture take place, but it’s obviously implicated.

Now, out of fear of sounding like Danny Quale going after Murphy Brown, the more I thought about this episode, the more it cheesed me off.

Nevermind that Club Gitmo provides nothing but luxury for it’s residents, or that the Red Cross is actually *on site* to watch and make sure no torture takes place… and nevermind that everyone that has visited Gitmo - Dems and Republicans alike - has never found any instance of torture… nevermind the FACTS of reality… just as long as it insults logic and blames America, it’s ok.

Why is it that when West Wing did an episode about who al-Qaeda is, they got their facts straight, but when it comes to a domestic organization, the writers are clueless?

Liberal left-wing wackos in charge of Hollywood, displaying their failure to grasp the realities of the world surrounding us. Joy.

The Monkees - Here They Come

Tuesday, April 17th, 2007

The shootings by a crazed idiot with a gun at Virginia Tech is an act of pure evil beyond the capacity for words to express.

This is only the day after, and I’m hearing crap about how if we just had stricter gun control laws because, y’know, if it wasn’t for those Americans getting guns, and and and it’s Bush’s fault, and and America is a evil place to be!

No, Main Stream Media, this is not typical America. This was a evil act by an evil person. This has nothing to do with tighter gun control. Nothing to do with Americans.

The MSM can’t accept evil things done by evil people. They don’t understand the concept. It’s made obvious by watching as they blame the people responsible for saving lives, more than the monster that took them.

Diane Sawyer asking if president Charles Steger (Virginia Tech) will now step down from his position. Which, by the way, he replied that he would not. And why should he? Because he tried to make the best of a satanic situation?

Why in the devil is it ok for Sawyer to accuse Steger of failing to do his job, jumping down his throat, when the man is just trying to make the best of a terrible situation? And why, while we’re at it, does Sawyer feel so compelled to yell at people trying to save lives, but when it comes to interviewing a dictator, she’s all warm and fuzzy about what is on the Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad’s i-Pod?!

Bad things happen. It’s a sad fact of life. What makes it sadder is when they do happen, the MSM and the wackos on the liberal left start rattling their monkey cages, and blaming every bad thing conceivable on: US.

I wish the MSM and the wackos would catch the last train to Clarksville, and get the heck out of the way of people that want to do their jobs, save lives, and keep America safe.

Don Ho Sails Beyond The Sunset

Sunday, April 15th, 2007

Don Ho, arguably one of the most recognizable singers in the world, and the musical Ambassador of Hawaii.. has died.

It is a sad thing to lose such a icon. I’ve had very few regrets in my life. Unfortunately, that short list just grew by one. I regret that I never went to see his show. Such a strong personality he was, I figured he would always be there, and I could go watch him “next time.”

Alas, there will be no more next times.

After his last performance on Thursday, he received a standing ovation.

Dog and Pony Dems

Tuesday, April 10th, 2007

From the AP:

WASHINGTON - Newly empowered to conduct oversight on the Bush administration, congressional Democrats are giving Alberto Gonzales and the White House little space to plan for the attorney general’s Senate testimony on the firings of eight U.S. attorneys.

As bad as I thought things were going to get with the Dems in charge… I’m sorry to say, I was wrong. They’re much, much worse than anything I was thinking.

What a bunch of cow-patties. The President can fire all the U.S. attorneys he wants - and in the case of “Slick Willy” Clinton, he did - and it shouldn’t matter. The attorneys serve at the pleasure of the President.

The Dems are on a witch hunt. They don’t care about defending the country. They don’t care about supporting the troops, or the war on terror. The only thing they care about is getting more power, making America look bad, and blaming President Bush for everything from Global Warming to a Cloudy Day.

I hope the people of America realize the crap that is being tossed by the Dems… and come election time, they toss the crap right back at them.

Ghost Writer

Monday, April 9th, 2007

Yeah, I’ve been scarce in regards to posting on Aloha Daze. Job got really busy over the holidays… then the parents came to visit the island for the first time… then…

Well, then my little medical condition known as sleep apnea paid me a visit. Ah, the memories of March 16, 2007…

Want to see what happens when you don’t address sleep apnea? This is what happened when I didn’t address it:

So much for my perfect driving record. My 2003 Honda Civic versus the back of a stationary 1994 GMC SUV Tahoe.

I knocked the spare tire off of the Tahoe. And maybe some of the dust off of it’s bumper.

Me? They took me away in an ambulance.. but not before sticking a neck-brace on me, and placing me on the flat backboard.

I’m happy to report that - outside of the car being totalled - the only person that was hurt was me. All my bones and pieces intact, I hurt like the dickens from the seat belt.

Air bag? Yeah. It went off, too.

For the passenger. (No, there was none.)

Driver’s side airbag never deployed.

Perhaps that’s why I now own a Toyota.

The sad part is, I was beginning to address my sleep apnea. Went to the doc and got an appointment to get a sleep test and such. And the next day, I wrecked.

I woke up just in time to see the back end of the Tahoe, and I thought “Brake!”… but that’s as far as I got. I don’t think 5 feet seperated me and the back of the GMC at that point. And at about 20 MPH… it was over for me before I even knew it started.

So if you can’t sleep at night, and you can’t help from sleeping during the day… don’t do as I did… go seek treatment.

I got lucky. I figure it’s God’s way of saying I should take care of myself. The bruises have healed. Most of the pain is gone, but I still can’t lift anything over a few pounds. It’s amazing how much you use your upper chest muscles.. and how much you miss them when you can’t use them.

Trouble in Texas

Sunday, April 8th, 2007

I may live in Hawaii, and be loving it, but as the saying goes, you can take the boy out of Texas, but you can’t get Texas out of the boy.

Some trouble spots are brewing. Slowly, the appeasement of the Muslim community is creeping into Texas.

Check it out from Michelle Malkin and friends:

Lone Star Dhimmis?

Maybe it’s time to start up the Crusades again…Texas style.

Happy Easter?

Wednesday, April 4th, 2007

The AP reports:

TEHRAN, Iran - President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad defused a growing confrontation with Britain, announcing the surprise release of 15 captive British sailors Wednesday and then gleefully accepting the crew’s thanks and handshakes in what he called an Easter gift.

Am I the only one that is looking at this in disbelief? Do you honestly believe that ol’ buddy-buddy Mahmoud believes in the spirit of Easter? Or the meaning? He’s just happy because he’s now figured out that he can push Britain around and get away with it.

Ah, Britain. The New France.
