Dodd-ling

Written by Robert Rhodes on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 in: Healthcare, Obama Administration, Politics |

Chris Dodd is expected to announce his retirement today.

What that really means is that he is going to go and vote on things (health bill) that go against the wishes of his constituents, and then bail like the coward he is because he won’t be reelected anyway.

Nice. Watch the cockroaches of Washington DC scurry when the lights come on. (Read that: When the people get tired of the crap politicians.)

Rush Limbaugh Dead?

Written by Robert Rhodes on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 in: Politics |

All the news reports right now is that he had some chest pains, and was taken to Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. He’ll be staying the night, so with any luck he’ll be up and about before 2010 arrives.

Even if he is still in the hospital… as long as he’s up and about before ObamaCare passes, he’ll have a much better chance of surviving.

Although, with Rush, he may just pay his way at the hospital, as opposed to dealing with insurance.

Hey, while he’s there, maybe he can find Barry Obama’s birth certificate?

Merry Christmas / Mele Kalikimaka

Written by Robert Rhodes on Friday, December 25, 2009 in: Politics |

Aloha!

I hope everyone is having a beautiful, fantastic, amazing, wonderful – and safe! – Christmas holiday.

The reason for the season isn’t shopping, gifts, or even Santa Claus. It’s Jesus Christ. It’s family. It’s friends. It’s love. It’s getting together, catching up on times gone bye over the year, and spending time with the ones you love.

Here’s to family and friends that are not with us this year… and to those that still are. Count your blessings, for surely anyone that has friends also has family, and is blessed.

Net Neutrality

Written by Robert Rhodes on Thursday, October 22, 2009 in: Obama Administration, Politics, socialism |

Is there anyone that really believes that this “net neutrality” is goingto be good for anyone on the Internet? C’mon, man. I mean really.

How will regulating Internet service for the USA work? Isn’t there still the rest of the planet that can do or say whatever they want? Or, in order to regulate the Internet, will the government somehow place filters on the Internet for American citizens like China has done?

Control the message system, control the message? Can you imagine the world without complete access to the Web?

Like the administration is trying to do with Fox News, they want to do with us ‘little people.’

What do you think, Tiny? You like the idea of your information being controlled by politicians?

Do you trust politicians? I sure don’t. They’re not showing any reason to trust them.

CARS Troubles

Written by Robert Rhodes on Thursday, July 30, 2009 in: Obama Administration, Politics, Taxes, socialism |

Here I sit, watching an episode of CSI. A commercial for Ford, advertising the Cars for Clunkers program(CARS – Car Allowance Rebate System) just showed up.

Except, not everything is warm and fuzzy in Obamatown.

WASHINGTON (AP) – Congressional officials say the government plans to suspend the popular “cash for clunkers” program amid concerns it could quickly use up the $1 billion in rebates for new car purchases.
The Transportation Department called congressional offices late Thursday to alert them to the decision to halt the program, which offered owners of old cars and trucks $3,500 or $4,500 toward a new, more fuel-efficient vehicle.

The congressional officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly.

Through late Wednesday, 22,782 vehicles had been purchased through the program and nearly $96 million had been spent. But dealers raised concerns of large backlogs in the system, prompting the suspension.

My understanding is that the CARS program is to be suspended tonight (July 30) at midnight.

Of course, I’m still seeing dealer ads for taking advantage of CARS.

This Is A Story?

Written by Robert Rhodes on Sunday, May 3, 2009 in: Barack Obama, Obama Administration, Obama Media, Politics |

I’m fed up with the pinheads that claim that there is no media bias.

This is what constitutes a story from the Associated Press? What kind of crap is this?

Obamas take a walk, holding hands in the evening

May 3, 3:40 PM (ET)
By CHRISTINE SIMMONS

WASHINGTON (AP) – The first couple took full advantage of the cool spring night.

After a date night out on Saturday evening, President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama decided to take a stroll when their motorcade arrived back at the White House.

So they began walking on the driveway of the White House South Lawn while holding hands. First they passed the West Wing, then their children’s swing set. They kept walking, swinging their hands together.

There were no Secret Service agents right behind them – the agents stood off, in one of the rare moments that the Obamas had private space outside the White House walls.

As the Obamas walked behind shrubbery and out of sight, the unscripted moment left reporters guessing where they were going. To the vegetable garden? The basketball court? No final word, but they eventually came back the same way from where they started, rounding out their 8-minute walk.

The walk wrapped up one of their first date nights in the District since they’ve lived at the White House. Before arriving home and taking the stroll, the president and first lady dined out for nearly two hours at a posh Georgetown restaurant.

The stroll was a quiet contrast to their dinner outing. The Obamas’ visit to Georgetown attracted thick crowds of onlookers who were held back by police tape, while sirens occasionally wailed and a protester chanted outside the restaurant.

Give. Me. A. Break.

Miles of Taxes

Written by Robert Rhodes on Thursday, April 16, 2009 in: Hawaii, Politics, Taxes |

And the media/government/clueless ones wonder why we, the people, are having tea parties.

Well, here’s a good example of why.

Hawaii To Test Taxing By The Mile

Hawaii lawmakers are hoping to pass legislation that would determine the viability of taxing drivers by the mile. Legislators say as more people purchase hybrid vehicles and driving habits change, fuel tax collections will likely suffer.

“We have to make sure that the highway fund is properly funded because if it isn’t, then we simply stop putting in the infrastructure,” said Sen. Kalani English, chair of the Transportation Committee and the lead sponsor of the bill.

The pilot program, known as Vehicle Miles Traveled (VMT), would be administered by the State Transportation Department as part of the Hawaii’s Highway Modernization Plan. Transportation Director Brennon Morioka told Khon2 a variety of methods would be looked at to determine the best way of tracking driving habits.

“Monitoring your odometers by going into service stations…or using GPS or whatever other form of tracking device,” said Morioka.

I think I should invest in more tea.

Tea Time

Written by Robert Rhodes on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 in: Hawaii, Politics, Taxes |

Yeah, that’s right. I’m one of those crazy right wing conservative people that is going to a Tax Day Tea Party here in Honolulu.

In. Honolulu.

How bad has it gotten, when even a liberal state such as Hawaii, thinks the spending and the taxes have gone too far?

I’ll be at the State Capitol Building [yes, they have a permit for this "festival"].

From 4PM to 7PM on Wednesday, April 15, 2009.

Hopefully, I’ll have somewhere to park.

I’ll probably have to pay a parking tax.

Joe Wants A Break!

Written by Robert Rhodes on Saturday, March 14, 2009 in: Joe Biden, Obama Administration, Politics |

Joe Biden. The gift that keeps on giving.

Oh, That Joe! (No. 48 in a Series) — Gimme a Break
March 13, 2009 5:40 PM

At an event at Union Station today where Vice President Joe Biden was heralding the $1.3 billion in investments in rebuilding train stations and passenger rails, a microphone picked up one of the former senator’s myriad Senate colleagues addressing him, formally, as “Mr. Vice President.”

That met with Vice President Biden’s standard reply.

“Gimme a f*&$#ing break,” he said, apparently unaware that the microphone was on.
